Justlikegames answers one question: I loved this game — what should I play next? Each recommendation list is written by hand, one pick at a time, with the reason the pick is there. The site is built and run by DixonAppStudio LLC, an independent studio in Elgin, South Carolina, United States.
Who is behind it
DixonAppStudio LLC is a small studio that makes websites, apps and games for the web, iPhone and Android, including the Justlikegames app. The lists, comparisons, genre guides and articles on this site are written and maintained in-house. We are players, not a publisher or a retailer, and no game company owns or funds the site.
What is here
About 180 hand-written "games like" lists, from NES classics to current releases, each saying what the original game does well and which later games carry that forward. Head-to-head comparisons that lead with a straight answer. Genre guides, best-of lists by console and mood, buying guides for retro gaming hardware, and articles.
A search box also looks up titles in the public RAWG game database, so you can find a game we have not written about yet. Those catalogue pages show RAWG's data, not our recommendations, and are kept out of search engines for that reason.
Where the data comes from
Cover art, release years, platforms and genres come from the RAWG video game database. Choices, rankings and every sentence explaining them are ours. We do not publish our own review scores; where a page shows a community or critic score, it is labelled with its source.
How the site is paid for
Justlikegames is free, with no account needed. It is paid for by advertising from Google AdSense and by commissions from retailer links — Amazon, eBay and Kinguin — when someone buys through them. Retailers and advertisers have no say over which games appear on a list or in what order. The Justlikegames app for iPhone and Android is a free download.
What we will not do
We will not publish invented reviews, ratings or player counts, accept payment to include a game on a list, or pad a list with filler to reach a round number. If a page falls short of that, email us and we will fix it.
