Top 20 classic PS5 games — find similar titles!

The Best PS5 Games

The PS5's case for itself is narrower than the PS4's was, and better for it: a handful of games that exist nowhere else, a controller that does something no other pad does, and load times that quietly removed a whole category of friction from big games.

This is split the way people actually shop for it — what is genuinely exclusive, what the big third-party releases look like on this hardware, and the smaller things worth playing that got buried under them. Every entry links to a full list of similar games if you want more of the same.

PS5 exclusive games

Exclusive here means you cannot play it on Xbox or Switch. Several of these have since come to PC, which is said where it applies — a list that pretends otherwise ages badly within a year.

  • Astro Bot (2024)

    • PS5

The best argument the DualSense has ever had, and a genuinely excellent 3D platformer underneath the gimmick. Every level teaches one idea and then retires it before it wears out.

  • Demon's Souls Remake (2020)

    • PS5

A ground-up rebuild of the game that started the genre, and still the best-looking of them. The original's awkward edges are intact, which is the point — it is not a modernisation.

  • Returnal (2021)

    • PS5
    • PC

A roguelike built like a AAA shooter: bullet-hell arenas, a run that takes hours, and no way to save mid-attempt for the first year of its life. Punishing, and the movement is superb.

  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (2021)

    • PS5
    • PC

The one that used the SSD as a mechanic — portals that drop you into a different world mid-jump, with no load. Also the most comfortable action platformer on the system.

  • God of War Ragnarok (2022)

    • PS5
    • PS4
    • PC

Bigger and more talkative than the 2018 game, with combat that finally gives Atreus something to do. The best-paced of Sony's big single-player releases.

  • Horizon Forbidden West (2022)

    • PS5
    • PS4
    • PC

An open world that is genuinely worth looking at, with the best large-animal combat in games. The story is long; the machine fights are the reason to stay.

  • Spider-Man 2 (2023)

    • PS5
    • PC

Traversal is the whole game and it is close to perfect here — the wings turn Manhattan into a glide, and the city loads fast enough that fast travel feels redundant.

  • Gran Turismo 7 (2022)

    • PS5
    • PS4

The most careful racing game there is about the history of the cars in it, and the DualSense does more for a wheel-less driver here than in anything else.

  • Stellar Blade (2024)

    • PS5
    • PC

Action combat built on parries with a very tight window, in a linear world that occasionally opens up. Harder than it looks in a trailer.

  • Final Fantasy XVI (2023)

    • PS5
    • PC

The most action-led Final Fantasy, with set pieces at a scale the series has never tried. Little of the party management the older ones ran on.

Best PS5 RPGs

The long ones. Every entry here is fifty hours at a minimum and several are three times that.

  • Elden Ring (2022)

    • PS5
    • PS4
    • Xbox
    • PC

FromSoftware's open world, and the one that made the formula approachable without softening it: if a boss is too hard, you can leave and come back stronger.

  • Baldur's Gate 3 (2023)

    • PS5
    • Xbox
    • PC

A tabletop RPG that actually lets you do the stupid thing, and then keeps track of it for sixty hours. The most reactive game on the system by a distance.

  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (2024)

    • PS5

The middle chapter, and the one where the remake project stops retelling and starts diverging. Enormous, and full of minigames you can ignore or not.

  • Lies of P (2023)

    • PS5
    • Xbox
    • PC

A souls-like that understood what it was borrowing — weapon assembly, a perfect-guard system with teeth, and a Belle Époque city worth walking through.

  • Hogwarts Legacy (2023)

    • PS5
    • PS4
    • Xbox
    • Switch
    • PC

The castle is the achievement — a building worth exploring for its own sake. The open world beyond it is conventional, and the combat is better than expected.

PS5 games people miss

Not obscure — these all sold. They were simply released next to something enormous, and got talked about for a fortnight.

  • Alan Wake 2 (2023)

    • PS5
    • Xbox
    • PC

Survival horror written like a novel about writing a novel, and the most confident thing Remedy has made. The switching between two detectives is the structure, not a gimmick.

  • Dead Space Remake (2023)

    • PS5
    • Xbox
    • PC

One continuous shot through one ship, with the loading seams from 2008 removed. Dismemberment still does more for the tension than any jump scare.

  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023)

    • PS5
    • Xbox
    • PC

Souls-adjacent lightsaber combat with five stances, in levels built like a Metroidvania. The best Star Wars combat there has been.

  • Evil West (2022)

    • PS5
    • PS4
    • Xbox
    • PC

A linear, unfashionable, six-hour action game about punching vampires in the American West, and a relief next to anything open-world. Co-op throughout.

  • Hitman 3 (2021)

    • PS5
    • PS4
    • Xbox
    • Switch
    • PC

The conclusion, and the launcher for the whole trilogy — every level from 2016 onwards plays inside it. A sandbox disguised as a stealth game.
